Without Russia and Iran, Peace in Afghanistan is Impossible: Karzai

Addressing a gathering in Kabul marking the 90th death anniversary of professor Sayed Bahauddin Majroh on Wednesday, former Afghan president Hamid Karzai called on US not to deal with Pakistan while accelerating peace efforts in Afghanistan.


Addressing a gathering in Kabul marking the 90th death anniversary of professor Sayed Bahauddin Majroh on Wednesday, former Afghan president Hamid Karzai called on US not to deal with Pakistan while accelerating peace efforts in Afghanistan.
“we completely differentiate the fact that what the Afghan peace means and what is the issue between the US and Pakistan. Our country is devastated because of foreign deals,” Karzai underlined.

Former Afghan president also called on America to set aside its differences with the regional countries.
“US peace efforts in Afghanistan, in contradiction with Iran, Russia and China, is impossible to become successful,” he stressed.

Mr Karzai welcomed peace efforts of US Special Representative on Afghan peace Khalilzad, but has emphasised that peace is possible in Afghanistan only when it accompanied with national consensus.
“no angle of peace efforts should be hidden from Afghan people,” he added.
