“Do Not Play Music!” Taliban ordered Kabul Wedding Hall owners
DID Press: The Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice has told Kabul wedding hall owners to refrain from playing any kind of music.
Akif Muhajer, the spokesperson for the ministry, told Kabul wedding hall owners to refrain from playing any kind of music during the wedding ceremonies, saying it contradicts the teachings of Islam.
“Music has no place in Afghan traditions and Islamic Sharia,” Akif added.
Following the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, many artists and musicians fled Afghanistan and sought asylum in Western countries.
